In 2015, a new, explosive documentary aired about Scientology and exposed many of the questionable acts allegedly performed by the Church. One of the events documented revolved around the breakup of Cruise and Nicole Kidman. Former second highest-ranking official of the Church, Marty Rathbun, explained that his role was to facilitate their breakup and during an auditing session with Tom, the Church explained their concerns about her and Tom expressed concerns on his part too.

Cruise reportedly suggested that her phones could be tapped and David Miscavige was said to have authorized this. This was just the beginning of their divorce, but the Church vehemently denied all claims of the allegations.
