Disconnecting from family

In a documentary about previous members of the Church discussing their negative experience and why they left, one of the defectors featured was Nick Lister who discussed his friend, Jamie Lesavoy, being disconnected from her family. Lesavoy was Tom Cruise’s niece and after she was caught kissing a boy at 14-years-old by the actor’s cameras at his house, he considered her behavior “unbecoming of a Scientologist and out-PR.”

She was then allegedly sent to a Scientology center and then forced to live with another family to work on “lower ethics conditions” which are a series of steps a parishioner has to go through to amend their wrong doing. During this time, it was said she only had phone contact with her mother.
