Taylor Swift didn't sit back in 2020. Instead, the musical artist took the break in touring as an opportunity to write and record new music. Just months after Swift released the 17-track album Folklore the 31-year-old followed it up with a new album, Evermore. After playing both albums, listeners can notice their relation to one another. Swift acknowledged that she intended them to be similar in sound, like a "sister record" of one another.

While Folklore explored an indie storytelling vibe, the follow-up album Evermore slipped into a darker, moodier sound. Swift shows off her vocal range with her edgy country ballad "No body, no crime" while putting her softer side on display in "Dorothea".

Like many of us, Swift spent 2020 doing some self discovery spending more time alone and threw out any rules or limitations that might have guided her albums in the past. Listeners are thrilled to have more Taylor Swift tracks to dive into as her sound continues to mature and grow with her fanbase. In true Swift songwriting fashion though, everything doesn't always end up well for the characters in her new songs. You'll have to download and stream them to find out.
