Justin Bieber’s manager and music mogul Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings acquired Big Machine Label Group from founder Scott Borchetta as part of a $300 million deal. The label had Taylor Swift signed from her start in music in 2006 up until 2017 when she moved to Universal Music Group.

The deal means that Swift’s old music catalog is now owned by Scooter Braun, the same individual she claimed bullied her.

Upon the agreement, Swift took to Tumblr to post a scathing attack on Scooter Braun, saying she was reeling from the “incessant, manipulative bullying I’ve received at his hands for years.” She claimed the news was her “worst case scenario.”

Almost immediately, Braun’s client Justin Bieber hit back via Instagram and championed his manager, stating that they loved her and Scooter was a huge supporter of her from years ago.

Swift’s claims of bullying stem from her very public argument with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian West when Taylor hit back at the rapper for using her name in his lyrics after she had agreed to it. When Taylor backtracked on her word, Kim Kardashian West posted the recording of Swift agreeing to the lyrics against her will.

The battle online began to alter public opinion of Taylor Swift with many people calling her a liar and a fraud. A demise that she said was one of the lowest times in her life.

With Kanye West a client of Scooter Braun, Swift claimed the music mogul orchestrated his clients to bully her online. After the whole dispute over the purchase of Swift’s catalog went public, many stars and musicians have taken to their social media accounts to defend Braun’s kind nature and excellent reputation in the music industry.

On the other hand, Swift’s friends including Cara Delevingne, Iggy Azalea and Halsey defended the singer, agreeing she should have the rights to the music she created.

Another blow for the singer came in the days following the public feud when her old music saw a huge surge. The talk of her early tracks had people listening again, and in turn produced revenue for her enemy Braun.
