Love him or hate him: you can’t deny that Bob Dylan helped lend a voice to a whole generation of hippies in the 1960s. He often wrote meaningful lyrics pertaining to the civil rights and freedoms of Americans. His politically charged anthems helped shape the voice and tone of rock music – the effects of which can still be felt today. In 2012 and 2016 he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom and a Nobel Peace prize – which he refused to acknowledge.
