20. Lynyrd Skynyrd

In the 1970s, Lynyrd Skynyrd was responsible for catapulting southern rock into the mainstream music industry. Suddenly, fans everywhere were opening up to some of the classics like Sweet Home Alabama – a hit still enjoyed today.

Sadly, their time on this Earth came to an end all too soon when many members of the band died in a plane crash in 1977. Since then, their music has lived on in future generations. More of their hists include Simple Man and Free Bird.
