John Lennon was supposed to sing lead vocals on the Beatles first single
In 1962, the Beatles’ first single was Love Me Do, but it was the only single from the band where Paul McCartney took the lead.
For this record, Lennon was supposed to sing lead vocals, but when he had to play harmonica too, they deemed it was too much so McCartney stepped in and led the song. For most of the Beatles songs, lead vocals were ususally taken on by Lennon or McCartney.
