39. Mira Sorvino

Mira Sorvino is the daughter of famous actor and opera singer, Paul Sorvino. Before going into acting, Mira graduated magna cum laude from Harvard before she started to pursue her acting dreams. In 1995, she starred in the Woody Allen movie, Mighty Aphrodite, for which she won a Golden Globe and Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

She played around with many films during the ‘90s and early ‘2000s such as 1997’s Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion and Mimic, 1998’s The Replacement Killers, and 1999’s Summer of Sam, but her interests moved rather to political activism. Ever since 2004, Sorvino has been connected to Amnesty International, and later started serving as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador to combat human trafficking.
