Bullmastiffs are a cross between a bulldog and mastiff. Typically, these dogs weigh around 130 pounds and they can jump on people, so it can be dangerous if they jump on young children.

On the other hand, they are great guard dogs as it comes naturally to them but socializing them and making them display good behavior in the home needs to be trained. In general, bullmastiffs have a shorter life span than most other dogs, living on average just eight years.
