St. Bernards are a huge breed of dog that can be super friendly to both adults and children. They originate from Italy and Switzerland and have been included in many books and movies over the years.

However, their great size makes them very difficult to keep inside and have enough room to move around. Despite being very friendly dogs, they can often knock over young children without intention. St. Bernards have been used as guard and rescue dogs in the past.
