The Great Pyrenees was originally intended to be a shepherd dog in many different parts of Europe. Their large size and thick coat makes them perfect for the outdoors and they can easily cope in snowy conditions.

These dogs protect those around them whether it be adults or children however the drawbacks are that they require a lot of grooming and may drool around the house. These dogs can overheat easily and in this case they will sleep for hours on end.
