The Afghan Hound has beautiful long hair which is its most prominent feature. They adapted to their native Afghanistan mountains with their long coats to stay warm in the freezing climate. This breed needs constant exercise to stay healthy and to not act out.

Although they are good family dogs, they require a lot of maintenance and need to be trained to stay in line. Unless they have a relationship with children, they should be kept away for the most part.
