Shar-Pei’s can be traced back to China and have a shared history with the Chow Chow. These dogs were crossbred early on, making them have very similar characteristics. In ancient times, they were trained to be guard dogs and this protective nature is something they carry to this day.

If they aren’t socialized as puppies, they don’t mix well with humans and get territorial or aggressive if approached. To avoid this, it’s important they are socialized and trained as a puppy.
