The 40 Best Soap Operas Ever – Ranked
35. Where The Heart Is
CBS’s Where The Heart Is ran from the 8th of September, 1969, to the 23rd of March, 1973. It always ran for 25 minutes, with the last 5 dedicated to a CBS news break. It starred Louise Shaffer, Rue McClanahan, Marsha Mason, Ron Harper, Diana Van der Vlis, James Mitchell, Alice Drummond, and more.
The stories took place in the fictional town of Northcross, in Connecticut. It focused on issues of a sexual and psychological nature of the Hathaway family, who were quite dysfunctional. The storylines were quite daring for the time, focusing on adultery, incestuous love triangles, babies being born to unmarried parents, and the like. It was one of the lowest rated soap operas of CBS, and didn’t do that well with viewers, even though it did have its own fan base.
